Not only did I have a terrific time piecing each block, but I also had just as much fun picking out the color combinations. I used some tried and true combinations and also experimented with some combinations I'd been wanting to try.

If you haven't played with Bella solids lately, I must say I highly recommend it! Although I must warn you that it might lead you to add quite a few more projects to your list.

When deciding on a setting I picked a straight setting and sashing without posts...I really wanted the block designs and the fabrics to be the "stars" of this quilt.

I also added a plain white border...again, I wanted the emphasis to be on the colors!

I'm hoping my quilter can do some type of custom star element in the center squares that will tie everything together...

And...I'm thinking about  a scrappy binding made from my leftover fabric strips. Here are the requirements for sashing and borders for my setting (be sure to measure your blocks and quilt length and width before cutting strips to allow for any differences):

• 20 blocks finishing 9" x 9"
• 15 sashing strips 2 1/2" x 9 1/2"
• 4 sashing strips 2 1/2" x 42 1/2"
• 2 border strips 3 1/2" x 53 1/2" for left and right borders
• 2 border strips 3 1/2" x 48 1/2" for top and bottom borders.

Set your blocks together in 5 rows of 4 blocks each using three sashing strips 2 1/2" x 9 1/2" on each row. Begin and end each row with a quilt block.

Use the 4 sashing strips between the rows. Then add the left and right borders and finally the top and bottom borders.

Your quilt will measure 48 1/2" x 59 1/2" before quilting and binding.
